the first Pediatric Interventional Radiology room in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean with an investment of $2.3M.

1
Renovation and expansion of the Center Help for Patients and Families
With the aim of improving our facilities, this project seeks to create a more welcoming space for families to receive support during hospitalization. In addition to providing basic supplies, food and coordination of external assistance, the renovated center will provide specialized psychosocial services and recreational activities for children and their families. We want this Center to be a comprehensive care haven, helping families face the challenges of hospitalization with greater strength and serenity.
2
State-of-the-art technology through medical equipment procurement
We purchased world-class medical equipment
in addition to that provided by the hospital,
with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of treatments for pediatric patients. This advanced technology allows us
to support more precise and specialized care, complementing hospital resources and
ensuring that our children receive the best possible care. With your support, we can continue to acquire essential tools to improve the health and well-being of our children.
3
Construction of free
laundry facilities
There is a pressing need for a laundry service that helps parents and caregivers of patients keep their clothes clean during long hospitalizations. It is for this reason that we are developing a project to build a free laundry room inside the hospital, providing families with the convenience of carrying out their work at no additional cost. The average stay of a patient is eight days, however there are cases in which hospitalizations extend for weeks or months. With your donation, we will be able to alleviate some of that burden, allowing families to focus on what matters most: the health and well-being of their children.
4
Humanize the areas through the Pediatric Environment
This project seeks to transform the hospital environment into spaces that promote comfort and safety for children. With the right setting,
we reduce stress and the anxiety of our little patients, helping to improve their recovery and communication with their caregivers and medical staff. By integrating elements of play and distraction, we create an environment
where children can maintain a positive mood, while parents feel more involved in their health journey. Your contribution will make it possible
to continue improving the hospital experience for thousands of families.

Emergency response

In times of emergency, such as Hurricane
Maria in 2017 and the COVID-19 pandemic,
the Fundación Hospital Pediátrico responds quickly and effectively to support the
necessary resources to reach those who need them most. Through our Covid-19 Extraordinary Fund, we raised more than $240,000 in donations from private companies, organizations, and engaged citizens. This allowed us to acquire personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators, medicines and basic necessities, providing protection and
well-being to pediatric patients and health professionals. Thanks to the support of our donors, we have been able to support not only the University Pediatric Hospital, but also other medical institutions in Puerto Rico, offering essential equipment and supplies. Your support is crucial to continue providing these vital resources when they are needed most.
6
Expansion of comprehensive
care programs

We are committed to improving the physical
and mental health of our pediatric patients
and their caregivers. To that end, we seek to expand our mental health services with
certified Child Life specialists, physical
therapy, and a kidney transplant coordinator. Coming soon, we will also include coordination to support patients in need of heart and liver transplants, ensuring specialized and ongoing care for patients facing critical conditions.

PACMA: Adult Health Care
Transition Support Program
The PACMA Program, developed by the Fundación Hospital Pediátrico, helps pediatric patients transition to adult care. Based on the guidelines of the federal "GOT Transition" program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), PACMA seeks to develop a smooth and effective transition, providing support for each young person who must adapt to a new health system.
